I've written about what to bring to a camp to start your fire on a cold winters night out in the elements. Now, here's a simple tip that will turn your modest fire into an instant coat shedding scorcher.
On any road in the world where big 18 wheel trucks travel, there are those long black truck tire strips laying on the side of the road from a truck tire blow-out. Some folks out my way call'em "alligators." Pick one of these fire enhancement strips up the next time you'll be starting a camp fire.
Once you get your small fire going good, put the tire strip on top, then pile green wood on top of that. Within 3 minutes your camp fire morphs into a bondfire as the tire strip ignites the green wood for an extreemly hot fire!
This is something to keep in mind in case your leaving the city/burbs during a SHTF event.

Gadgets That Can Make The Difference
First off, Im not the most techie guy you'd ever meet but here's some of my must have's when it comes to gadgets.
1) Cell phone car charger.
2) A 30watt solar panel. This will charge our next item during the day.
3) A 12v deep cycle battery. These are commonly used for boats. Deep cycle batteries do not have the crank amps neccessary to start a car but they hold a charge longer. If you need to jump off any atv/truck use a car battery, if you need to run any small appliance, use the deep cell battery.
4)Pick up a cheap Walmart Power Invertor (in the automotive section.) A power invertor will convert battery power (DC) to alternating current (AC) to make use of any of your small appliances. It'll work with the car battery or the deep cell battery (prefered.)
5) A small box of various fuses. If you left the fuses and need one in a pinch, roll tin foil and place in the burned out fuses spot. If you need a plug-in fuse and you forgot the extra fuses, use a less important fuse in the fuse box of the vehicle.
6) A small air horn (used at ball games etc..) Tell everyone in the group that the air horn is only to be used in an emergency.
7) A Cow Bell should be brought to the group for whenever the air horn is used up. Emergeny communication needs to be held both at base camp AND anyone looking to food/firewood etc..
These are items that are cheap and could make the difference between life and death.

The Elenin Comet or Dwarf Star or Planet X?
Look, first off let me say this. Im not one to put much stock into conspiracy theories, but some serious red flags have surfaced while researching this Elenin Comet. The first red flag was NASA's JPL website PULLED ALL INFORMATION FROM THEIR SITE ON THIS VERY IMPORTANT ELENIN COMET! This was so important to the U.S. Government (this Elenin Comet) that we had a joint task force between NASA's JPL division and the Navel Observatory monitoring this F#&@ing comet for months on end and now POOF! Its erased from ALL Goverment SITES! WTF?
Folks, we'll be able to see this Elenin Comet with our own eyes, without a friggin telescope mind you, in late August this year! It arrives closest to earth on (or around) September 27, 2011.
Now, if were just a any ol' comet it wouldn't be much of a big deal. This Comet/Dwarf Star/whatever the hell it is, is perturbing planets within our solar system right now, if it perturbs our sun at all during its solar maximum cycle, we could see terrible solar storms and coronal mass ejections that would be unprecidented in recorded human history.
Here's another thing you won't hear from our government scientist, the earthquakes in Haiti AND Chile AND Japan happened when earth alligned with this "thing" or with the case of Japan, within 48 hours that Pacific Plate let lose on Japan. We align again (this time it'll line up Sun Comet Earth) on September 27, 2011.
As far as the U.S. general population goes, we're on our own now apparently? They didn't even wish us good luck before they erased this Elenin Comet/Binary Dwarf Star from their public access records.
Here's more salt for the wound. A previously unknown Russian with the last name Elenin is said to have discovered this comet last December, from a radio telescope in New Mexico. Yeah right...What is ELENIN spelled backwards? How dumb do they think we are damn it?!!
I could go on and on about this subject (pisses me off) but I won't. Let me say this however, be preppered. Apparently, we've heard the last from our gov. on this important ELE (gov lingo for extinction level event)and yes, I see this ELEnin unfortunatly.

In The Event Of An "Event"
I was writting on one blog about harsh realities of preppers during an "event" when this sweet lady wrote that she wanted to stay in suburbia during an event. That little conversation haunts me to my core. She didn't know how others on her block felt about anything? For all she knows they're predatorial creeps when the chips are down.
Situational Awareness is the first rule. Know who's with you and why, know where your located at and why. Know what you've brought/stored and why. Always run through various senerios that could present themselves.
If you find wolf prints in your pasture, you better get to that wolf before he gets to your calves. If I sit back and hope for the best, Im going to lose a calf at the very least. Hope is not a strategy.
The inner city is a tough place to be NOW, let alone an event! Way too many savages, you must leave the inner city. The people of the inner cities will look for resources in suburbia. Forget about the police protecting you from the savages. Its not going to happen. If your in suburbia, you have to have an iron clad plan to stay there when SHTF. No room for error. Prep and prep then prep some more.

NASA's Website Accidentally Predicts Another Catastrophic Earthquake in 2011Posted on 04/01/11 at 3:00am by webmaster
(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 01, 2011 ) Pasadena, CA -- Amateur astronomers using NASA's website have found that the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Small Body Database Browser has predicted the three most recent 7.0+ magnitude earthquakes with striking accuracy.
This Browser is available to the public. Space buffs can play with it to observe the movements of planets, large asteroids, and other bodies in our Solar System.
It is unclear who was the first to noticed a startling relationship between the alignment of a comet known as Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin), but the discovery has been cause for much speculation. After in-depth analysis of data from NASA's website and other sources, one financial advisor has begun to ask the hard questions.
In his special report on the apparent correlation between the recent seismic calamities and the celestial alignments, Oliver Silverstein says: "Once would be a mighty large coincidence. Twice would be borderline far-fetched. Three times goes beyond the realm of coincidence in my mind, and leads me to rule out mere chance. I'm leaning towards... the possibility that Elenin is somehow involved with triggering devastating temblors here on Earth."
Is it mere coincidence that the disastrous quakes in Chile, New Zealand and Japan all occurred on the exact day or within a few days of an alignment of the Earth, the sun, and comet Elenin? See chart below.

The JPL Small Body Database Browser indicates that there will be two more alignments of the Earth, sun and Elenin in 2011: September 26th and November 23rd.
There is considerably more trepidation surrounding the coming alignments due to the distance of the comet from our planet. You can see from the chart that the most powerful seismic activity happened when Elenin was closest to the Earth. During the March 11th tsunami and quake, there were more than two astronomical units (AU) between Earth and Elenin. The September alignment will find that distance shrinking to 0.396 AU, and in November it will be 0.596 AU.
If these alignments have simply been coincidental, there is no need for concern. The question remains, wouldn't it be worthwhile for government and scientific authorities to investigate and either put the public's mind at ease or prepare for the danger to come?
NASA has not released any official statement acknowledging these coincidences.

Bartering For Goods
What to collect NOW to use later in any bartering situation that might present itself.
It really depends on what region you live in. If you live in the mid-west, corn will be something most everyone will have. In that case you might want to collect jerky and those solar AA battery chargers (better known as outdoor accent lights) from Walmart.
In places where it gets really cold in winter and there's not a lot of firewood, you'll get a premium for firewood.
In the SW you could collect water containers for barter later. Everyone should collect powder drink mix for barter,after months of drinking plain water, people would get crazy for powdered gator-aid.
Tarps are something everyone should stock-up on for obvious reasons.
The U.S. is not on the gold standard anymore, nor are our coins made of silver/gold. Don't count on silver/gold as much of a local, tangible, trading commodity. Gold and silver are great hedges against a collapsing dollar in THIS PRESENT ECONOMY but not so much in the coming economy, in whatever form it presents itself.

Grow These In Your Garden
On the perimeter grow bamboo. Moso bamboo is used for building materials in SE Asia. The shoots are a great source of nutrition and taste good as well. The moso bamboo poles grow to 75' and are 8' a round. These are great for irrigation pipes. Cold climate? No problem for moso bamboo.
Corn is another garden item that has several uses. From several food items (corn, corn meal etc.) to alcohal production. You can make items out of the cobs such as pipes etc..The stalks are great for the goats.
Tomatoes are one of my favorites to grow for two reasons. I like the taste and you can use them to get rid of any foot fungus. To get rid of a foot fungus with a tomato you need 4 over-ripend tomato's and a pair of old shoes (preferably) or old socks/plastic bags. Just stuff the old tomatoes in the shoes and wear the shoes for 12 hours. The acid from the rip tomato kills the fungues off your feet.
Insist that your group grow these items. More to come later.
